President Zardari visits Iraq from 20-24 December at the invitation of the other party

During his visit, the president will hold meetings with Iraqi leadership and review the full range of bilateral relations

President Asif Ali Zardari will pay an official visit to the Republic of Iraq from December 20 to 24 at the invitation of the Iraqi president, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

The visit underscores the long-standing, fraternal relationship between Pakistan and Iraq, rooted in common bonds of faith, culture and mutual respect, a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

During the visit, the President will hold high-level meetings with Iraqi leadership to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explore ways to further strengthen cooperation across key areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, energy, reconstruction, labor, technology, education and people-to-people exchanges.

The discussions will also include regional and international development as well as cooperation in multilateral forums.

The visit is expected to strengthen the traditionally warm and cordial ties between the two countries, identify new avenues for partnership and strengthen people-to-people ties, especially in religious tourism and economic cooperation.
