Freight cost for transporting containers from Karachi to Rawalpindi, Peshawar increases from Rs360,000 to Rs635,000

As the last ten days of Ramazan begin and only five days remain for Eidul Fitr, the district’s 60 price control magistrates appear to be completely powerless to control inflation.
Increases in petrol, diesel and kerosene prices have sharply increased the cost of transporting goods, triggering a second wave of inflation.
The freight cost of transporting containers full of goods from Karachi to Rawalpindi and Peshawar has increased from Rs360,000 to Rs635,000.
In the open market, chicken meat is sold at Rs 550 per kilogram, eggs at Rs 230 per dozen, mutton at Rs 2,500 per kilogram, beef at Rs 1,400 per kilogram, milk at Rs 220 per liter and yogurt at Rs 240 per kilogram.
White chickpeas are priced at Rs 425 per kilogram, gram lentils at Rs 380, red beans at Rs 550 per kilogram and gram flour at Rs 360 per kilogram. Cooking oil and ghee are sold at Rs 510 per kilogram.
Nan bread costs Rs 35, paratha Rs 60 and a cup of tea Rs 100.
