- Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro could cost the same as their predecessors
- Google Pixel 10 Pro XL may cost more
- Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is said to cost less, with future models that reduce the price further
It is not unusual for the prices of an upcoming phone to delicious, but what is unusual is to hear about prices of units that are several years away, and that is exactly what has happened today, with a massive pricing of the Pixel series. However, this leak also includes the Google Pixel 10 line, so let’s start with it.
According to Android headlines quoting “a source familiar with Google’s plans”, Google Pixel 10 will in itself have an unchanged price, at least in the US, making it $ 799 again. If it applies elsewhere, it will be £ 799 / AU $ 1,349.
Google Pixel 10 Pro will also seem to keep its predecessor’s price, which means a starting price of $ 999 (and probably £ 999 / AU $ 1,699). However, you apparently have to pay more for the Pixel 10 Pro XL, with what is said to be approx. $ 100 more than $ 1,099 / £ 1,099 / AU $ 1,849 Pixel 9 Pro XL.
The best news relates to the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which can actually be cheaper than its predecessor. Apparently this starts at about $ 1,600, down from $ 1,799 Pixel 9 Pro Fold. It can mean a price elsewhere with approx. £ 1,600 / AU $ 2,450.
2026 and above
And here we come to the more future news as the same source claims that the Pro Fold model will fall again in price in 2027, bringing it to about $ 1,500 (possibly about £ 1,500 / AU $ 2,300). There is no word about a price change next year, so presumably it will remain at $ 1,600, and by 2028 it will apparently remain at $ 1,500.
The source also claims that Google will continue to offer its current choice of handset-a standard phone, a pro model, a PRO XL and a Pro Fold as well as the A-Series through to the least Pixel 13 Series by 2028.
And when we’re talking about the A-Series, this apparently will remain at $ 499 (probably £ 499 / AU $ 849) through at least Pixel 12A in 2028.
All that said we would take these claims with a pinch of salt. Any leaks that look so far forward could easily be wrong, as even if this is Google’s plan at the moment, it may change.
The claim that Google will gradually reduce the price of the Pro Fold line is especially surprising as we have not seen it with other foldable hitherto and with customs and inflation, it can be difficult to achieve. But then this can be exactly what is needed to make foldable phones into mainstream.
We should find out if the first of these claims is accurate in August, as it is probably when the Pixel 10 series is launched.
