Prince Harry’s victory against News Group Newspapers has just prompted one expert to question why he is “lumping” all journalists into those who have just been required to have a criminal investigation launched into them.
the charge and backlash was issued by royal commentator Camilla Tominey.
She shared all this in a piece too The telegraph and it began with her pointing out how, “Having said he would never ‘settle’ this seven-year legal battle – Harry has now got what he always wanted – an apology not only for that distress , he was caused by these heinous practices, but also the negative impact they had on his late mother’s life. Fair play to him.”
But “Where I do disagree with Prince Harry is his repeated attempts to tar the entire media with the same brush,” she admitted.
“At times unable to even distinguish between factual reporting and social media trolling, he has repeatedly attempted to undermine the official royal press pack with unsubstantiated claims of a ‘vendetta’ against him and Meghan and collusion with the palace.”
With this in mind, while Ms Tominey admits, “Prince Harry has a right to criticize journalists who get it wrong.”
Because “He actually has recourse to the Independent Press Standards Organization and, as we’ve seen with his multiple lawsuits, the law.”
But “it rather flies in the face of his self-appointed status as a bastion of truth for him to object to stories obtained legally and legitimately that actually get it right,” she noted before signing off.
