Prince Harry is slowly turning the public against him in Britain

Prince Harry has more fans in Britain than the headlines suggest.

A new YouGov poll of 8,022 adults carried out on December 8 shows that 56% of Britons believe the Duke of Sussex should receive some level of police protection when he sets foot back in the UK.

A timely judgment as the government launches another review of his security arrangements.

However, the British are not exactly lining up to foot the bill for Harry’s security entourage.

According to the poll, only 17% believe he should enjoy state-funded police protection.

A more pragmatic 39% say he can get the protection as long as he pays for it himself.

Meanwhile, 28% take a firmer stance, arguing that he should not be entitled to any form of police protection.

And then there are the final 16% who politely shrugged and chose “don’t know”, perhaps wisely avoiding another royal debate.

The Home Office has now commissioned a new threat assessment after the Duke formally requested a reassessment of the risks he faces when visiting the UK.

Harry wrote to Home Affairs Minister Shabana Mahmood in October asking officials to take a fresh look at the security threats he may face when he travels.
