- Pro-Project A1.2 is an update on the sympathetic A1 with some notable upgrades
- At the top of the updates? A new Die-cast aluminum dish
- It lands in April, ahead of Record Store Day 2025, for £ 469 (approximately $ 600 / AU $ 960)
Pro-Project Knows Record Store Day 2025 is in-depth on April 12, right? If you are busy clearing your schedule so you can get down to your local brick-and-mortar-independent record store, to buy some (or all-why not?) Of this year’s list of collectors and limited versions from some of the biggest names in music, you can take a moment to check your tire.
Could you – should You – Pamper yourself or the new vinyl collector in your life for a new and fully automatic turntable from one of the most trusted names in the game? You don’t want an older or slightly beaten turntable that damages your delicate new LPS with limited edition, do you?
A possible answer is right here in Pro-Jager A1.2.
Pro-Project tells me that A1.2 retains the central design principles for the original A1 (not to be confused with Pro-Project E1 or Pro-Project Juke Box E1, although these are both excellent budget-friendly options) but add a number of carefully considered upgrades.
It hits shelves in April in white or black finish. Right now I only know the British pricing, which is very respectable £ 469, which would make it about $ 600 or AU $ 960.
PRO-PROJECT A1.2 TRACK DISC: Key upgrades and features
A new Die-cast aluminum dish is on the throbbing heart of the pro-jister’s improvements to A1.2, replacing A1’s stamped version.
Next, a new CNC processing process is implemented in an attempt to “ensure precise, consistent production and reduce resonance”. A1.2’s 8.3-inch “Ultra-Led” Aluminum Tonearm also now has a redesigned head shell made of carbon fiber reinforced polymer-fordi It is a key factor to keep weight to a soft minimum in automatic turntable design design.
Tone arm comes with a pre-adjusted pro-hunting selection of the mm e-cartridge, and thanks to a full mechanical operation, there should be no motor resonance or electrical components that affect this tonearm when a record player explains, Pro-Project explains that the mechanics are “released completely”, which helps to maintain playback quality.
Elsewhere, you get Pro-Precs Resonance-Damped Wood Chassis, Silicone-Colored Feet and connect it E phono cables. And since the tracking power and anti-skating all are factory adjusted from the box, the setup must be as simple as unpacking it, placing it on a level surface, installing the dust cover (if you will; I never do it, as I have found it can add resonance problems, and I dust my apartment as standard) and connect the power supply to the turn on the turn of the turn on the turn on the turn on the turn of the turn, then to the turn of the turn, then to your mae.
You can then set A1.2’s integrated phono amplifier on or off by lifting the mat and adjusting the switch.
And to play a record? Place your vinyl lovingly on the turntable, set the speed to 33 or 45 rpm, Remove stylus protection cover, move the lift handle to the ‘needle on the record’, and press Start/Stop. Your dish begins to spin; Your tone arm moves to the correct position and gently lowers on your precious record. And when the record is completed, this tone arm automatically finds his way back home – which means you don’t have to leave the couch in your own home.
Could it just be one of the best turntable for a new collector? Too early to tell but I would be very eager to give it a spin.
One of the best Pre-Record store Day 2025 releases then? Well, we love Pro-Ject’s flat IT Vinyl Flattener too, but it’s really project out there that bosses it all alone right now …
