- Italy’s CyberSecurity -gift has fixed recent DDOs on Noname057
- The group is responsible for several DDOS attacks across the globe
- The attacks were in return for comments from the President of Italian
The latest attacks against a number of Italian sites have been linked to pro-Russian hackers, Italy’s cybersecurity agency has confirmed.
The attacks disturbed 20 sites linked to banking and airports and are likely to have stemmed from recent comments from Italian President Sergio Mattarella’s comments similar to Russia’s war against Ukraine to Nazi Expansionism before World War II.
The Italian CyberSecurity agent said the attacks did not cause any major disturbance, and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who also leads the ruling brothers to the Italy party, defended the president’s comments.
Russian retaliation
The attacks were carried out by a group known as Noname057 (16), which has been linked to a number of distributed denial of service (DDOS) attacks around the world. The group’s most important goal in Monday’s cyber attack seemed to be Intesa Sanpaolo Bank’s web site, Banca Monte dei Paschi Websted, Iccrea Banca’s Website and Websites for both Milan Line and Malpensa Airport.
The group conducted targeted cyber attacks against Taiwanese goals late last year, including companies such as Formosa Plastics, Wistron and United Microelectronics. The group also claimed to hit a number of government sites linked to airports and legal systems.
Noname057 also turned out to Japan’s economy at the end of 2024 after increases in Japan’s defense budget and increased coordination in military exercises with the United States, which Moscow posed as a significant cause for concern.
Both attacks against Taiwan and Japan seemed to have caused some disturbance, albeit very limited. Noname057 has been a significant contributor to the Ddosia botnet according to a recent article.
