Tennis legend Martina Navratilova had a fiery reaction on Monday night after no Senate Democrat voted to protect women and girls in the sports law to break the Filibuster.
The bill, led by Senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., Does not receive the 60 votes it needed to get through the procedural vote. Republicans needed 60 votes, but received only 51. No Democrats are sitting with Republicans on the bill. Two Democrats were absent from the vote, as are two Republicans. The bill failed, 51-45.

“More dems have to step up here. I know many who agree but are afraid of talking up because of re -election. I say to do the right thing. Wax a spine,” she wrote on X.
The protection of women and girls in the Sports Act requires that title IX treats gender as “recognized solely based on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth” and would reject any adaptation to it to gender identity.
