Karachi:

A Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) protest in Karachi on Monday threw some older parts of the country’s financial hub in disarray -including roadblock and traffic jams ahead of IFTar.

BYC staged a protest at Fawara Chowk from the city near the Sindh Assembly building and demanded the release of his arrested leaders, including Dr. Mahrung Baloch.

In response to the protest, police blocked several roads that paralyzed traffic in the surrounding areas. Heavy overload was reported where the traffic police were unable to control the situation effectively.

Many citizens who got stuck in Gridlock near Karachi Press Club and Fawara Chowk had to break their fasting on the streets. Frustrated commuters criticized the traffic police for their sustained inability to deal with such situations.

In a crash, police also detained several individuals, including a female BYC leader, for allegedly violating section 144. Protesters responded with a demonstration against the arrests.

According to the traffic authorities, the closure of Karachis Deen Muhammad Wafai Road and Sarwar Shaheed Road “slowed down” Movement on II Chunrigar Road, Shaheen Complex Chowk, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Kiyani Road, Aiwan-E-Sadr Road and Fawara Chowk.
