Provincial Enforcement Authority Launched

Lahore:

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally launched Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA), the country’s first organ at the provincial level dedicated to enforcing laws against inflation, storage and soil intervention.

When he spoke at a ceremony held in the Lahore Expo Center, the chief minister Pera paid tribute to a transformative step in strengthening the rule of law and protection of vulnerable societies.

The authority will be operational in the Lahore division next week and is expected to be fully functional across Punjab by December.

“The idea of Pera was devised just eight months ago, and today it has become a reality,” said CM, who praised the pace and professionalism in the formation of the new institution. “Pera is now shielded for the oppressed and a deterrent effect for profits and land strikers.”

During the launch event, the Chief Minister inspected various components of the new authority’s operations, including a 3D model of a pera station, law enforcement vehicles, protective equipment and the central control room. A demonstration from the newly created Pera strength – the enforcement unit – highlighted their readiness with mock operations, martial arts and crowd control exercises.

The Minister of the Minister emphasized that Pera would introduce a new culture for transparency and responsibility in enforcement. Unlike traditional dependence on district administration and revenue managers for price and intervention control, the new authority will serve as a specialized body with trained staff and dedicated infrastructure.

She also gave ros certificates to top priesting officers in Pera’s training phase. Pera Henbed Director Farukh Ateeq, who led the formation of the authority, briefed the audience on its scope and goals. He noted that Pera stations would be established in all 144 tehsils in the province, equipped with digital units and hundreds of enforcement vehicles.

“Pera will not only perform operations,” said Ateeq. “It will ensure thorough investigations, robust prosecution and systemic reforms in law enforcement culture.”

CM Maryam Nawaz promised full government support to the authority and called on Pera officers to maintain honesty and bravery in service.
