The Pakistan Tax Bar (PTB) has expressed reservations about the legality of the FBR, claiming that the tax collection agency is filing unnecessary tax cases. In a letter written to Prime Minister Shehzab Sharif, the PTB said that the tax collection agency is filing unnecessary and weak cases, which is tantamount to discouraging the tax payers. The tax cases are pending in courts and other platforms. PTB demanded that the government set up a steering group to review the tax cases. With the reduction of the steering group, tax cases will decrease by 50 percent, it says.
