Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) on Monday called on the federal government to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) in response to India’s recent threats following the deadly Pahagam attack.
By tackling a Senate Session on Monday, PTI -Senator Ali Zafar said: “People know the manuscript for Modi’s drama very well,” added that India could not unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
To describe the Indian accusations against Pakistan regarding the Pahagam attack as “baseless” accused Zafar Prime Minister Modi of “leading India against destruction.”
The attack on April 22 triggered indignation in India, with his government accusing Pakistan – a claim Islamabad refused strongly and called it a “false flag surgery.” In response to the claims and the assembly pressure, India announced its one-sided suspension of the six decades-old Indus Waters Treaty, where they escalated tension further.
“If the modi-led government even diverges a drop of Pakistan’s water, it will be considered an enemy attack,” Zafar warned during his comments.
Head of the opposition in Senat’s Senator Shibli Faraz also took the floor and reinforced the call for national unit. “We are united when it comes to defending Pakistan,” he said, stressing that the country is facing both internal and external challenges.
Faraz paralyzed New Delhi to try to destabilize Pakistan and push an aggressive anti-Pakistan narrative. He said that India’s threats to water could not be taken as “political statements” but must be treated as “acts of war”, adding that the enemy actively planned a deadly attack on Pakistan.
Meanwhile, PML-N-Senator Irfan Siddiqui criticized India’s actions and narrative building after the Pahaldam incident.
He said the international community had rejected India’s “false claims and propaganda” against Pakistan. “The world did not support India’s attitude or its fabrication. Their propaganda has been postponed,” he said.
Highlighting procedural irregularities asked Siddiqui to question how attackers could cross the heavily fenced control line (LOC) undetected.
He noted that a four for the attack was recorded immediately and accusations were smoothed against Pakistan even before an investigation had begun. “It seems that FIR was only hospitalized and the incident happened later,” he noted.
He also condemned India’s attempts to unilaterally withdraw from the Indus Waters Treaty and reminded the Senate that it was an internationally recognized agreement supported by the World Bank.
“No country can unilaterally withdraw from the treaty. You can’t turn Pakistan into carbala by cutting off its water,” warned Siddiqui.
