An internal responsibility committee for Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has cleared Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assembly speaker Babar Saleem Swati of accusations related to illegal appointments.

The committee report released by the legal member Qazi Anwar lawyer says the allegations were made by former Senator Azam Swati but was not substantiated with evidence.

According to the conclusions, the agreements concerned either before Babar SWATI’s tenure or were made in accordance with established procedures.

The report also claims that Swati is targeted because of his loyalty to PTI’s basic chairman and his spouse rather than for any administrative mismatch.

The committee also noted that Babar Swati had dealt with the assembly last November regarding police action against PTI workers at D-CHOWK in Islamabad. The speech allegedly led to a broader debate in parliament with participation from both government and opposition members.

The report highlights the role of SWATI in raising questions like the Katlang incident where he began discussion and saw a decision adopted by the assembly.

The Committee concluded that Swati’s political attitude and internal party loyalty are the underlying reasons for the pressure he is currently facing.
