PTI distinguishes itself from Swatis Deal -Notes

Lahore/Islamabad:

PTI General Salman Salman Akram Raja said on Saturday that the recent comments of senior party leader Azam SWATI on a potential agreement with the establishment have no connection with the fated party.

He said he was not aware of any ongoing dialogue between the party and the establishment.

In a speech with the media outside Lahores Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), Raja said SWATI might have acted independently when he claimed to be in contact with key effect brokers to negotiate an agreement “for the sake of the country”.

“I can only confirm any such development after meeting PTI Foundation Chairman Imran Khan. The situation is until then,” Raja said. “We are not allowed to meet him and there is considerable confusion.” “We do not support abductions or illegal detention. If a dialogue can ensure the fundamental rights and personal freedoms of citizens, we welcome it. But we cannot accept anything less,” he said.

The Party Secretary General also said that PTI has always subdued the rule of law, supremacy of the Constitution and the country.

“It’s our core ideology. If the process is moving forward from here, that’s fine, but if anyone thinks we’re looking for a backyard output, it’s simply not true.”

He added that the situation would become clearer when a meeting is held with PTI founder Imran Khan. “The reason they do not allow us to meet the founder of PTI is to create ambiguity. Only after this meeting do we know if he has approved any dialogue,” Raja said.
