Islamabad:
Prisoned leaders of PTI have expressed the willingness to participate in political dialogue with other parties, provided they will first be allowed to meet the party’s basic chairman, Imran Khan.
The detained leaders left the door to speak a little Ajar and claimed that every meaningful commitment should begin with access to Khan.
The proposal follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent call for political dialogue in the midst of elaboration of political uncertainty.
In an open letter addressed to the government, senior PTI leaders proposed withheld in Lahore prisons commencing conversations to help navigate the country out of its ongoing political and constitutional crisis.
The open letter, author of PTI leaders from Lahore at the moment in detention, including Mian Mehmood-Ur-Rasheed, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry and Omar Sarfraz Cheema, were addressed to the government.
The letter emphasized that the country was facing an unprecedented political and constitutional crisis and emphasized that extensive negotiations were the only way forward.
The leaders claimed that dialogue should not only take place at the political level, but also must include the establishment to ensure that all stakeholders can continue with mutual trust. They called for the immediate introduction of conversations and the inclusion of PTI leaders who are currently imprisoned in Lahore prisons.
“No important political decisions can be made without the hearing of Imran Khan,” the letter states. “Effective representation is not possible unless we have his guidance.”
Furthermore, the letter claimed that a one-time meeting with the imprisoned shot-in-chief would not suffice. Instead, there must be ongoing opportunities for consultation with Imran Khan to ensure that the negotiation process remains efficient and consistent.
Meanwhile from Adiala Prison, Imran Khan has instructed party leadership to prepare for a political movement after Ashura.
In a speech with the media outside Adiala Prison on Tuesday, IMRAN’s sister Aleema Khan said she and her sisters were given permission for a 15-minute meeting with him, while attorney Zaheer Abbas was only awarded a 90-second conversation.
She added that other lawyers, including Salman Safdar, Salman Akram Raja and Niazullah Niazi, were completely denied access.
“These are conscious attempts to sideline the party’s founder,” she said.
Aleema quoted Imran Khan as stating that the consequences of the 26th constitutional amendment are becoming more and more clear.
“He said, if you steal people’s voices and claim they don’t matter, it means you effectively imposed on martial arts. If you transform the judiciary into a government department and deal with judges in this way, the rule of law is over.”
“Those who sat in assemblies were not elected by voices. The media’s voice has been taved. Now they bring the 27th amendment. It would be better to declare monarchy because people’s voice has been taken away. Pakistan was created in the name of Kalma, and that is, faith,” supports us. The nation becomes completely unploted. Rather, I would spend the whole life in Jail, and it is, “Ale also quoted Imran.
According to Aleema, Imran has instructed the party to start preparing for a protest movement after Ashura.
