Islamabad:
Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers have launched a mass depreciation drive from the National Assembly’s standing committee in accordance with the party’s founder Imran Khan’s Directive.
PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan submitted 18 resignation to the speaker office and marked the major withdrawals from opposition legislators from parliamentary committees.
Barrister Gohar withdrew from four key committees – law and justice, human rights, information technology and House Business Advisory Committee. He also submitted the resignation on behalf of other PTI members.
Those who stepped down from Presidencies and Memberships include Junaid Akbar, SaHibzada Saifullah, Mahboob Shah, Shahzada Gustasab, Ali Jadoon, Mujahid Ali, Malik Anwar Taj, Fazal Muhammad Khan, Sajid Khan, Arbab Amir Ayub, AIFK Khan, Sheikh Arshad Sahi, Malik Amir Dogar, Shabbir Ali Qureshi and Awais Jhakkar.
Senior PTI leaders Shehryar Afridi, Mobeen Arif Jatt, Usama Maila and Sher Afzal Marwat also gave their resignation. Afridi stepped down from two committees, while Mobeen Jatt retired from the trade, finance and industrial committees.
Previously, Junaid Akbar gave up his position as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), while PTI Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram completed the PAC and the Information Committee.
Confirmation of his decision on X, Akram said: “After the instructions of our leader Imran Khan, I submitted my resignation this morning from the public accounting committee and the Information Committee.”
Similarly, Malik Amir Dogar declared in his resignation note sent on X, unshakable loyalty to Imran Khan: “I hereby resign from the National Assembly’s standing committee in accordance with the directive of my leader Imran Khan. The sole purpose of my policy is to implement his mission – genuine independence of Pakistan and service to the people.”
Party Insiders confirmed that all resignation was submitted to the National Assembly Secretariat after consultation with the PTI management.
The directive of mass depreciation comes after the Pakistan (ECP) election Commission, several PTI leaders in accordance with their beliefs in cases linked to the riots on May 9.
Observers say the wave of resignation is expected to affect the function and performance and performance of parliamentary committees.
