A delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) met with Jamat Disadvantaged by-e-Islam-Fazl (Jui-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at her residence on Tuesday and expanded an invitation to join the opposition’s great alliance against the government.
According to Express newsThe PTI delegation included opposition leader Omar Ayub, Salman Akram Raja, Asad Qaiser, Hamid Raza and Akhunzada Yousafzai.
During the meeting, PTI leaders suggested Jui-F’s participation in the formation of a government-riveting alliance. To facilitate discussions, a joint committee was also set up that included Senator Kamran Murtaza from Jui-F and Asad Qaiser from PTI.
In a speech with the media after the meeting, Ayub expressed concern for the government’s lack of transparency. He said, “The government promised an unattended meeting with the basic chairman, but failed to fulfill this commitment. In addition, a raid was carried out in Hamid Raza’s residence. Our efforts here are aimed at promoting democracy.”
PTI General Salman Salman Akram Raja revealed that the delegation informed Rehman of the opposition’s attitude to key issues, including the reconstitution of the Pakistan Election Commission (ECP).
“We informed Maulana of the government’s intentions and emphasized the importance of restructuring ECP. Letter about these concerns has been sent and Maulana listened attention to our perspective. There is a significant potential for progress,” he added.
Jui-F’s Senator Murtaza shared while approaching the media, details of the discussions. “We welcomed PTI leaders and Maulana Fazlur Rehman listened to their points attentively. The primary focus was on the appointment of the Chief Commissioner and two ECP members along with wider questions such as ending interference in election. As a step forward has We formed a preliminary committee with two members to oversee these questions, with Asad Qaiser and myself as members.
Jui-F leaders led by Rehman will consider internally before making a final decision on their participation in the Grand Alliance of Opposition.
