Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan denied on Thursday categorically that any agreement had been concluded over the party’s imprisoned foundation chairman Imran Khan and said that political issues should be run through dialogue rather than secret covenant.
In a speech outside the House of Parliament, Gohar emphasized that “no agreement has been made” with a neighborhood regarding IMRAN’s case and added that all negotiations must remain confidential and constitutional.
On the question of reports that Imran had given his NIKK to talks with the government, Gohar said he had forwarded the prime minister’s invitation but would not pass on details of their discussion in Adiala prison.
He insisted that genuine progress in national politics was dependent on estimation and sincerity, warning against media sensationism. “Political affairs must be resolved through conversations,” he said.
This statement follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent appeal on extensive dialogue with opposition parties, which IMRAN is reported to have welcomed.
Earlier, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur said Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has agreed to participate in political dialogue.
“Those who transform this into a question of ego are hurting Pakistan. We must rise over personal interests and think in the national interest,” said Gandapur while talking to journalists in Peshawar. “Imran Khan has agreed to negotiate and has obviously said he is ready to speak for improving Pakistan,” he added.
CM also dealt with ongoing legal efforts on IMRAN’s release. “Petitions are underway for Imran Khan’s release,” he noted and added, “as CEO of a province, I have a judicial decision that allows me to meet him weekly. These meetings are crucial to consultation, especially with the provincial budget approaching.”
