Islamabad:
Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf’s (PTI) central information secretary Sheikh Waqa’s Akram rejected on Wednesday reports of ongoing negotiations with the government and said that dialogue “does not work like this”.
By tackling a news conference, the party’s central information secretary clarified that PTI Foundation Chairman Imran Khan has refused to initiate conversations.
“You can’t drive dagger off hatred into someone’s breast and still expect goodwill in return,” he added.
He further clarified that the Negotiating Committee had been composed of IMRAN himself and that his participation was in his direction. “No one can claim that we did not sit with those, we did it only on the founder’s instructions.”
Akram, who criticized the “rigged” political landscape shaped by the vote on February 9, claimed that the “Form-47 government” should stop its “campaign for cruelty and oppression” against political opponents.
By taking a jibe against the judiciary in the middle of PTI’s legal evil, he claimed that judgments could now be predicted on the basis of the composition of the bench.
“Our lawyers are already informing us what the verdict will be, the system is naked,” he said.
He promised to resist until the end, he said PTI will fight “until the last ball”. “The world is looking at. We will not surrender. We will not admit defeat.”
Waqas also demanded the abolition of the 26th constitutional amendment and called it detrimental to the country. “It has caused irreversible harm, everything is settled.”
In a comment on the al-Qadir Trust case, he reiterated that no financial advantage was the impaired to either the PTI founder or his spouse, Bushra Bibi. “The whole world knows that he is not corrupt. Pakistan has been transformed into a joke.”
“He is not even allowed to talk to his children or meet his sisters. Books are not allowed. This government is haunted by his presence,” the PTI leader said, calling it a “paranoia regime”.
He claimed that the Punjab police blocked political leaders from meeting Imran, and that surveillance cameras had been installed, “noticed every step.”
“We demand the rule of law and constitutional supremacy. This path of tyranny must end.”
He also rubbed all the speculation about a back door arrangement. “The PTI founder does not want an appointment. He said ten months ago that he would rather spend his life in prison than to get into a compromise.”
“He has not bowed and will not bow. Even Rana Sanaullah admitted this publicly.”
With reference to an example, he said that a young man named Raza Ali, who was imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat prison for two years, had recently been given the bail by the Supreme Court. “His ailing grandmother repeatedly told the court that her grandson was innocent.”
“The person he was accused of injuring was not even on the list of the wounded,” he said. “This child spent two years behind columns for no reason.”
He said the party’s legal team would soon present detailed information about all such unfairly imprisoned persons. “The Supreme Court must ensure that its judgments are implemented.”
