Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) chairman Barrister Gohar said on Monday that the party would boycott the national assembly sessions in protest of what it called unreasonable treatment of its legislators.
“From now on, we will not attend national assembly meetings. We will protest and boycott instead,” said Gohar, while talking to journalists with other PTI members. In Islamabad.
He added that PTI’s parliamentary party met in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) House, heard instructions from the party’s founder and approved them.
He accused the authorities of stripping PTI legislators of their seats, disqualified them and muted their votes. “Even if we try to celebrate independence day, we are not allowed to. Despite countless difficulties, we participated in sessions to raise demands democratically, but we are not allowed to speak,” he said.

The former speaker Asad Qaiser called on the federal government to support flood victims. “The KP government is working for the flooders. We will also appeal to our party founder to launch a collection call. We appeal to the United Nations to provide assistance. It is also the duty of the federal government,” he said.
KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur reported severe destruction from heavy rain, especially in buns, Shangla, Swabi and Swat. “A 12 -to -14 -foot flood wave destroyed home. Our agencies saved all people within 24 hours. So far, 490 people have lost their lives in the province,” he said.
He said compensation was distributed, with RS2 million given to the deceased families, RS1 million for completely destroyed homes and partial payments to the wounded. “This is only support – you can’t rebuild a house with RS1 million. But never in the story has been carried out relief from work at such a speed,” he added.
