PTI to compete with Polls with full force

Islamabad:

On Thursday, PTI’s political committee decided to actively contest all upcoming elections that decided not to leave the political arena unemployed for rivals, sources say. The party’s core committee met here with Secretary General Salman Akram Raja in the chairman.

It was decided that PTI would field candidates in any constituency where the seats fell unemployed and elections would be held. It was also decided that the candidate would be nominated with the consent of the disqualified member.

The meeting, however, saw sharp differences that arose over the nomination of compensation for opposition leaders Omar Ayub in the National Assembly and Shibli Faraz in the Senate, which had been convicted by the courts during the 9th of May 2023 riots.

A message from PTI founder Imran Khan, who was sent through Ali Bukhari, said that if Ayub and Faraz secured relief from the courts, they would continue in their positions; Otherwise, Mehmood Achakzai and Senator Azam Swati should be considered for opposition leaders’ positions.
