Rawalpindi:
Pakistan Tehreeke-E-Insaf (PTI) Attorney Faisal Chaudhry has stated that former Prime Minister and Party’s founding chairman Imran Khan has instructed his party to launch a full-scale movement against the government after the holy month of Ramazan.
Chaudhry said PTI leaders Asad Qaiser and Omar Ayub have been assigned tasks for the purpose. He said IMRAN has urged to establish contacts with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Mahrang Baloch as well as to take opposition parties in trust.
In a speech with the media outside the Adiala prison, Faisal Chaudhry said the PTI founder has instructed his party to launch a full-scale movement against the government after Ramazan.
Last December, Imran had threatened to start a nationwide civil disobedience movement following a government’s crash on his supporters, resulting in several deaths.
The former Prime Minister demanded that a judicial investigation be carried out to the death of at least 12 of his supporters during a November 26 government’s crash on what he called “peaceful” PTI protesters in Islamabad.
In addition, he called for a probe into “police tasks” against his party workers during nationwide protests in May 2023, resulting in several fatalities and sought the release of hundreds of his party workers who were detained during the protests of anti -superfluous.
Later, the government established a negotiating committee to engage in PTI and consider IMRAN’s requirements. Despite holding several meetings, both negotiating panels managed to reach an agreement.
When reflected on the negotiations, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted that the government had accepted PTI’s proposal, formed a committee and initiated conversations through the National Assembly’s speeches. The committee had asked PTI to present its claims in writing and the government agreed to give a written response. However, the premiere said PTI withdrew from the scheduled meeting on January 28.
Meanwhile, the PTI negotiation committee spokesman Sahibzada Hamid Raza published a statement of X stating that the opposition committee was formally dissolved in accordance with the party’s founder.
Raza added that the committee was converted into a coordination committee that would strive to make a magnificent opposition alliance against the ruling alliance.
In a speech with the media, Faisal Chaudhry emphasized that the “open letters” presented by Imran to the Army Chief emphasized facts that the establishment must consider. He also revealed that Sanaullah Masti Khel has been introduced to the political committee.
He commented on the ongoing litigation, noting that another hearing of the GHQ case, part of what he called a series of fake cases took place.
He claimed that people who left PTI have not been exposed to any 9 May-related charges. He also criticized the “controlled trials” conducted in Adiala Prison, where “selective access” is awarded to lawyers and journalists.
When he repeated his attitude, the PTI founder emphasized the need to tackle the rising terrorism in the country and condemned “the oppression of the judiciary,” Chaudhry said.
He maintained that independent media and judiciary are “turned around”, while the Internet shutdowns discourage foreign investment.
