Islamabad:
Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has decided to submit a reference to four National Assembly members (MNAs) who rejected for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) after being elected with PTI’s support.
According to PTI leader Asad Qaiser, the party has completed its plan to intervene against these legislators to deviate from party politics during the vote on the 26th constitutional amendment.
The referral is sent to the National Assembly’s speeches and the Election Commission in Pakistan (ECP).
Last year, the four PTI supported independent members, including Usman Ali, Aurangzeb Khichi, Mubarak Zeb and Zahoor Qureshi, voted for the 26th constitutional amendment to the National Assembly.
The move helped the government to sound 225 votes and surpassed they demanded 224.
The 26th change changed the country’s legal system significantly, including provisions for legal appointments, Chief Justice’s tenure and the composition of the legal commission.
“These members won their seats on PTI tickets and are now connected to PML-N. We have asked the party to send a disqualification reference to the speaker and ECP. Let’s see what action they are taking,” Qaiser said.
Previously, Qaiser had said that the PTI-supported independent candidates who supported the disputed constitutional change, betrayed the party and its founder, Imran Khan.
“Those who voted [in favour of the bill] has committed treason against the party and its founder, “Qaiser said.
