PTI -Workers collide with journalists at Aleema Khan’s Press Briefing

A medias interview by Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, outside the Adiala prison fell again in chaos on Monday when party workers turned on journalists to ask tough questions.

The tensions had run high since last week’s event when two women threw eggs on Aleema during a press conference in the same place. The egg -throwing episode was allegedly triggered by journalist Tayyab Baloch’s sharp questions that went unanswered at the time.

Determined to prevent a repeat of the embarrassment, PTI workers allegedly tried to take control from the start of Monday’s presses and blocked Tayyab from asking questions.

However, the journalist continued with the same questions as before and triggered indignation among the workers. The situation quickly escalated to push and push, with Tayyab carrying the assault.

Ironically, no senior PTI leader intervened to reassure the workers as they handled journalists. In protest, Media Brother, Aleema’s orientation, was protesting the party’s failure to limit the wrongdoing from his workers and its leader’s indifferent attitude.

Last week’s egg-hiring event had already put PTI in the limelight. According to a Rawal Pindi spokesman, the two women involved – reported associated with PTI – were taken into custody after Aleema refused to answer questions during the previous press speech.

Journalists have repeatedly pressed Aleema to respond to accusations raised by Mmar Solangi in a tweet accusing her of buying property using donation funds. Tayyab claimed he was facing an orchestrated campaign on social media and even threats after raising the question during last week’s interaction.

Meanwhile, the attack on Aleema drew sharp criticism across the political gap, where both the Treasury and the opposition legislators condemned the egg throwing incident.
