Islamabad:

The most important witness in the GHQ attack case testified in Anti-Terrorism Court on Thursday and said Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) was involved in the spread of hatred against the military and the state institutions in the country.

During the hearing of the case related to the attack on the GHQ port on May 9, 2023, against PTI founder Imran Khan and others inside the Adiala prison, said Under Inspector Muhammad Riaz, who was complaints about the case that PTI would spread chaos and anarchy in the country.

On Thursday, Prosecutor Si Riaz registered his statement for ATC judge Judge Amjad Ali Shah in the middle of Ruckus, created by the defense lawyers. On it, the judge issued a statement on statements of defense attorneys for contempt of court.

SI RIAZ testified that DVDs and other evidence received from Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) were played on a large screen in a joint investigative team (JIT) meeting.

After seeing all the evidence, it was proven that PTI as a party was involved in spreading hatred against the army and state institutions to spread chaos and anarchy in the country. He added that USBS and DVDs related to the provocative speeches of the PTI founder and Shehryar Afridi, and about the place and the surrounding areas, were seized in his presence.

During the hearing, the defense attorneys insisted on summoning senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja to court. Prosecutor Zaheer Abbas Shah opposed the request and said Raja hadn’t helped the court even in a single day, but he would rather come in to plot violent protest.

The PTI founder had announced that he would lead the protest across the country from inside the prison, and Raja would consult the PTI founder to end the conspiracy against state and state institutions. Shah said no political meeting could take place during the trial.

However, the protest continued from the defense attorneys, and at one point they also warned by boycotting the procedure. ATC expressed his anger over the situation and issued messages about showing the defense attorneys for contempt.

Due to protest, the statements of two more prosecution quarters, sub -inspector Saleem Qureshi and Manzoor could not be registered. Later, the hearing of the case was postponed until June 21 inside the Adiala prison.

During the hearing, Jit -Konvener SP Faisal Saleem also appeared in court, but SSP studies Rawalpindi did not appear despite the court called. The judge issued messages about the SSP investigation and sought answers until June 11.
