The president of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Junaid Akbar, has confirmed ongoing communication between party leadership and institutional bodies, while emphasizing that such communication has always taken place at PTI’s estimates in the past.
In a speech with the media after chairing the first meeting with PTI leaders in Peshawar on Sunday, Akbar said the collection focused on preparing for the upcoming Protestrally in Swabi on February 8, which he described as the largest PTI -Collection in KP.
Several PTI leaders and members of the provincial assembly attended the meeting, while the minister of chief Ali Amin Gandapur was particularly absent.
Akbar clarified that CM was not invited to the meeting because of his already existing responsibilities. However, he assured that a separate meeting would take place with CM about the Swabi protest.
In his conversation with the media, Akbar expressed strong rejection of comments from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and accused him of giving inappropriate statements.
Naqvi had warned PTI for strict action on Saturday if it continues with its scheduled February 8th protest, which coincides with the Champions Trophy match planned in Lahore.
“The government will request PTI to reconsider its planned protest on February 8, but if the party refuses, the state will take the necessary action,” the Minister of the Interior said.
He accused the party of damaging Pakistan’s international image by organizing demonstrations every time foreign dignitaries visit the country. “Their policy promotes chaos rather than constructive development.”
However, Akbar described the actions taken against PTI workers as “State Terrorism” and raised concerns about the possibility of violence during future protests and said, “This time we expect even bullets to be fired against us during any protest.”
He confirmed the ongoing communication between PTI and state institutions and attributed it to PTI’s strategic approach when he acknowledged that the party did not seek confrontation with institutions, but emphasized that whatever instructions the founder gives, they will not disappoint him or the public.
In response to an inquiry about potential changes in the provincial cabinet, Akbar declared that such decisions fall under the authority of CM.
