The Punjab government has announced Eidul Fitr holdays to all educational institutions, confirming that schools remain closed from March 28.

According to Punjab’s Minister of Education, both public and private schools will observe the holiday break.

Secretary of Schools Khalid Wattoo declared that government schools will open again on April 7, while annual results will be declared on April 4.

The decision comes when Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts that Eidul Fitr falls on March 31, a Monday.

The break allows students and teachers to celebrate the festival before the new year of study begins.

Previously, the federal government officially announced the public holidays on the occasion of Eidul Fitr and gave a three-day break.

According to a notification issued by the cabinet department on Wednesday, the holiday begins from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2nd.

In addition, in an attempt to limit ticket prices that are over -charging under Eidul Fitr, the SINDH government has also canceled the holiday for all officers and staff in the transport department, ensuring that they remain vigilant throughout the festive period.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the decision on Saturday and said that transport officials will monitor prices as part of a province’s crash against carriers who charge excessive rates.

“Complaints about over -charging are common under EID, and we are obliged to ensure that citizens are not forced to pay more than the officially approved prices,” said Mr Memon.

Officers from Sindh Transport Authority as well as regional and district transport bodies will be deployed to quickly tackle complaints. The Minister warned that a strict action would be taken against offenders of ticket prices.

He urged the public to report any incidents with excessive ticket collection so that the authorities could respond immediately.
