The Punjab government has announced that the summer holidays in schools will begin from June 1, subject to rising temperatures and health concerns for students and staff.

School education secretary Khalid Nazir Wattoo indicated that the schedule could be revised if temperatures continue to rise, Express News reported.

“If temperatures rise unusually, holidays could start a week earlier,” Wattoo said. “This step prioritizes students, teachers and parents as intense heat can affect educational activities seriously.”

The decision is in the midst of growing global concerns about climate change, which continue to interfere with weather patterns around the world.

Pakistan in particular ranks among the countries that are most vulnerable to climate -related disasters.

Experts have warned that rising temperatures affect more sectors, including education, health and economics, where every year goes, witnessing more intense heat waves.
