Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given a principled approval for a provincial electric bus project that will see 1,500 buses implemented over several cities.
The decision came under a high -level meeting in the provincial transport department, which was chairman of the Minister of Chief.
In the first phase, 380 electrical buses are introduced in Lahore and Gujranwala. The procurement process for these buses has been ordered to begin with a time limit for June.
Additional cities such as Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujrat, Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan will be included in later stages of the project.
Maryam Nawaz also ordered officials to present route plans to Faisalabad and Gujranwala and demanded progress in planning Laorrest’s yellow line within 15 days.
A new transport command and control center has also been approved for Lahore together with the creation of charging stations for the electric fleet.
The Ministry of State emphasized that modern public transport is the right of every citizen, not only those in Lahore who expressed his desire for “world -class bus systems in every major city of Punjab.”
