Punjab presents RS5.3TR ‘ZERO TAX’ BUDGET for the financial year 2025-26

Lahore: Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja Ur Rehman presents the province’s RS5,335 billion budget for the financial year 2025-26.

In a prior statement, the minister had said the budget will reflect the development vision for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and will be people -friendly.

Prior to the assembly session, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the provincial budget.

“Despite a relatively compressed budget, ADP [Annual Development Programme] has risen by 47% from 842 BN to 1240 BN, while public operating expenses only increased by 3%, even after wages and pensions rise, “said Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb in an X post.

In another X-post, Aurangzeb said: “Under chief minister Punjab’s fearless and reformist leadership breaks budget 2025-26 free from outdated traditions.”

She said the budget 2025-26 reflected a historical and strategic adaptation of priorities with historical and highest distribution of development of RS1.240 billion with a total outlay of RS5,335 billion.

The minister said the provincial budget was “zero tax budget, which means that no new tax has been introduced, nor has any tax rate improved with the timetable to increase the Punjab tax network”.
