Punjab schools for reopening from tomorrow, as Pakistan-India-tensions facilitate

Lahore: All educational institutions over Punjab, which were closed due to increased tension between Pakistan and India, will open again from tomorrow (Monday), according to an official review issued on Sunday.

The announcement stated that academic activities in all schools throughout the province will be resumed according to normal schedule.

Previously, the Punjab government closed educational institutions for two days, Friday and Saturday, as a precautionary measure in the light of the prevailing security situation.

The latest escalation in the decades old Pakistan-India rivalation began on May 7, when at least 31 civilians, including children, were killed in an unprovoked Indian cross-border attack. By retaliation, Pakistan lowered five IAF fighters, including three rafales, and dozens of drones.

During the escalation, India sent drones into the Pakistani territory, with the military shooting nearly 80, including Israeli-made Iai Heron Middle height, long-term-embraced aircraft (UAVs).

Earlier on Friday night, India launched several missile attacks on Pakistani Airbases, including Nur Khan, Murid and Shorkot Airbases, which were fired from aircraft, according to Director General General Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Director General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.

In response, Pakistan launched “Operation Bunyan-Um-Marsoos” against India early on Saturday and targeted several military bases, including a missile storage location in India.

Then President Donald Trump said Pakistan and India had accepted a “full and immediate ceasefire” after days of strikes and counter -attacks against each other’s military installations.

“After a long evening of conversations mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have accepted a full and immediate ceasefire. Congratulations to both countries using common sense and great intelligence,” Trump said in a speech on truth in truth.
