The Punjab training department has announced plans to install security cameras and advanced monitoring systems in schools throughout the province to improve security.
Surveillance cameras are placed in school entrances to monitor activities and strengthen security measures. These cameras will be equipped with face recognition technology to help identify students, teachers and visitors, according to the education department.
Authorities will receive daily reports from the monitoring systems to improve supervision and administration. The department said the move is aiming to prevent unauthorized access, theft and vandalism and at the same time ensure more secure environments in areas at high risk such as times and playgrounds.
In emergencies, such as penetration or accidents, the systems will provide real -time data to the authorities for rapid action. The measures are especially important in Lahore, where schools accommodate large student populations, officials said.
Previously, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) had an educational department forbidden government schools to organize field trips, trips and picnics of students with reference to security reasons.
A review from primary and secondary education department instructed all government schools in the province, including those in merged districts, to enforce the ban.
District Education Managers (DEOs) have been corrected to ensure strict adherence to the order. Officials said the move is aiming to improve students’ safety by keeping them in a controlled environment, reducing external risks and focusing resources on internal security.
“These steps will help ensure a more secure educational experience for students and staff,” said an official.
