Qaiser calls on PPP to reject 27th amendment

SWABI:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, former speaker of the National Assembly and general secretary of Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan, Asad Qaiser, has said that if the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) wants to revive its legacy from the entire public policy, it must unconditionally reject the constitutional package.

In a statement, Qaiser said Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto made invaluable contributions to democracy, which remains a proud chapter in Pakistan’s history. He noted that the PPP had played a central role in the framing of the 1973 Constitution, but it now appeared to be inclined towards a “politics of compromise”.

“If the PPP completely rejects the 27th Amendment, it will mark its true return to people-oriented politics,” Qaiser asserted.

The PTI leader expressed regret over the recent conduct of the judiciary and said the approach of the courts was “deeply disappointing.” He warned that if cases are moved forward or delayed on political grounds or under administrative pressure, it would seriously damage the credibility of the judiciary.

Qaiser further noted that when a larger bench gives a judgment and it is ignored, it raises serious questions about the judicial system. “Today, justice has disappeared and the rule of law has eroded. The judiciary must rise to fulfill its primary duty, to ensure justice and protect the rights of the people,” he said.
