Quetta-Bunded took security tightened

In the wake of last month’s attack on Jaffar Express, strict security measures have been implemented for trains operating between Quetta and other cities, including Lahore.

The number of inmates’ security staff has increased from 11 to 40, the Inspector General for Railways told Police Rao Muhammad Tahir to Express Pakinomist.

According to IG Tahir, border walls will be constructed on Quetta, Sibi and Mach Railway Stations to improve security. Watchtowers will also be built in these places, and trained snipers will be implemented to ensure better monitoring and responsiveness.

In the meantime, efforts are also made to limit the theft of railway material.

According to IG Tahir, staff who are going out will now be required to detect video footage before handing over charging to their replacements to improve accountability and reduce Pilferage.

IG also said that a crucial crash will be launched against land traps and all rail area will be picked up at any cost.

To improve day -to -day operations, all police stations under the railways are provided with significant stationery and basic objects required for routine work.

In addition, a summary has been sent to upgrade the railway police staff scales to bring them to level with other law enforcement forces.

Jaffar Express was attacked on March 11 when the Balochistan Liberation Army (eg) militants adhered to the Peshawar-bound train that carried 440 passengers. The assailants opened fire and took hostages, which got a security operation that lasted for two days.

Immediately after the attack, the security of train stations across the country was increased.

Earlier this week, the Railways Ministry informed the National Assembly that security has been ramped with increased deployment of Pakistan Railways Police (PRP) and Frontier Corps (FC) staff at rail stations over the Quetta Division.

Further security has also been provided on the Jaffar and Bolan Express trains running between Quetta and Jacobabad.

The answer in writing on a question from MNA Shahida Rehmani, the ministry said FC staff have been stationed at key stations in the region, with the stack created in hilly stretches between Mach and Sibi.

As an extra caution, a pilot motor now goes ahead of Jaffar Express daily from Quetta to Sibi to make sure the track is free of threats.
