Lahore:
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday rejected the pre-filled guarantee care of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar in cases relating to the May 9 riots following the arrest of the party’s Supremo Imran Khan.
When the procedure began on Wednesday, Qureshi was neither produced in court nor represented by any lawyer, prompting the judge to reject his guarantee petitions in two cases attached to the 9th of May -Vold.
In Asad Umar’s case, his lawyer submitted an application that applied for a one-day exemption from personal appearance, citing the petitioner’s illness. However, the ATC judge expressed dissatisfaction with the repeated absence and stated that such behavior was intolerable.
The judge noted that Umar had also not appeared in previous hearings and that no relief could be given in such circumstances.
After reserving the verdict for a short period, the judge later announced the dismissal of both guarantee care.
