Pakistan Railways (PR) has registered gross earnings of RS65.17 billion during the July-Mart financial year 2025, marking a robust increase of 21 percent compared to RS53,70 billion in the same period last year, driven by a significant increase in passages and freight.
According to the Economic Survey 2024-25, presented Monday by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the data highlights Pakistan Railways as a cornerstone of the country’s transport infrastructure and plays an important role in promoting national integration and economic development.
Meanwhile, the economic study at 2024-25 highlighted a significant financial reversal for Pia, National Flag Carrier.
According to the survey, Pia recorded an operating profit of RS9.3 billion in 2024, more than twice its surplus of RS3.9 billion in 2023.
This marks the second year in a row with operational profitability for the airline, reflecting continued progress under a strategic reform plan.
