Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has expected widespread rain with wind-thunder showers and isolated tongues over large parts of the country from 27 to 31 July, warning of flash floods, urban floods and landslides in several vulnerable areas.
According to PMD, weak monsoon streams are currently penetrating through upper and central parts of Pakistan and are likely to be intensified from July 28.

A western wave is expected to approach on July 29, which further strengthens the weather system.
Isolated tongue is expected in Kashmir (including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot and Mirpur) and Gilgit-Baltistan (including Skardu, Astore and Hunza) from 27 to 31 July.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, districts such as Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan and Peshawar will probably receive rain and thunderstorms from 28 to 31 July.
Punjab and Islamabad will see rain with scattered tongues from July 28 to 31, affecting areas such as Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot. Rain is also probably in southern Punjab (DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan) from July 29 to July 31.
Balochistan’s northeastern and southern districts, including Quetta, Barkhan and Zhob, can receive rain from the night of July 29 to July 31.
In Sindh, hot and humid weather will be the case, although rain is expected for July 30 and 31 in districts such as Tharparkar, Sanghar, Succur and Larkana.
PMD has warned that heavy rain could trigger flash flooding in hill streams of chitral, SWAT and other northern regions.
The city’s flood is probably in low -lying areas of Islamabad, Lahore, Rawal Pindi and Sialkot.
Landslides or mud glids can occur in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree and Kashmir.
Strong wind and lightning can damage weak infrastructure, including cacha houses, electric poles, solar panels and advertising boards.
The public, travelers and tourists have been asked to stay informed and avoid unnecessary trips to vulnerable areas.
Authorities have been invited to remain aware and take precautionary measures.
