Five people including a child were killed on Thursday in various districts in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under heavy rain and strong winds, the province’s disaster management authority said.

Stormian weather is expected to continue in northern and central parts of Pakistan until Saturday, according to Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Heavy wind storms killed 10 people on Tuesday and 14 Saturday in different parts of the country, one of the most vulnerable to climate change and are struggling with ever more frequent extreme weather events.

Three children were killed Wednesday in Hyderabad in Sindh Province, a senior official said.

While most of the deaths were caused by collapsed walls and roofs, at least two people died after they were hit by solar panels loosened by whipping wind throw.

People are killed every year in Pakistan of intense storms, which were exceptionally frequent this month.

Heat waves in May followed an exceptionally hot April and a very dry winter.

Temperatures were up to six degrees Celsius over the normal in May, and peaked at over 48 ° C (118 degrees Fahrenheit).
