Islamabad:
Kashmiris, who lives on both sides of the line of control (LOC), and all over the world, observed Kashmir Martyrs’ Day on Sunday to pay tribute to the martyrs on July 13, 1931 massacre and all those who sacrificed their lives for freedom.
The day was characterized by a complete shutdown in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and a march against the martyrs’ cemetery at Naqashband SaBib in Srinagar, where the 22 martyrs on July 13, 1931 tragedy have been laid to rest.
To honor martyrs, collector, seminars and conferences were organized by the Kashmiri organizations in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Pakistan and large capitals all over the world.
In Muzaffarabad, a smart-facing police quota presented Honor at the Shuhada monument in the morning as a sign of respect for Shuhada. Pasban-e-Hurriatyat also arranged a protest mounting against Burhan Wani Shaheed Chowk.
Later in the day, Kashmir Liberation Cell arranged in collaboration with all parties Hurriyat conference AJK chapter a public collection followed by a lot of rally in Muzaffarabad.
Meanwhile, President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Pakistan’s political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people in their separate messages on the occasion of Kashmir Martyrs’ Day.
President Zardari paid tribute to the unwavering courage, determination and victims of the Kashmiri people who opposed the Indian occupation for decades and continued their struggle for self-determination.
“Pakistan paid tribute to the Kashmiri people who have been firmly against Indian rule for decades and continue to fight for their freedom,” he said.
“The great battle that the Kashmiri people carry on today is a continuation of the victims of these 22 martyrs. The freedom light that their victim turned on in Kashmiri’s hearts still burns bright today.”
He called on the international social and human rights organizations to immediately notice the Indian state terrorism and serious human rights violations on occupied territory.
“Pakistan will continue to provide political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri brothers until they achieve their right to self-determination in accordance with the decision of the United Nations Security Council,” he concluded.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in his announcement that the people of Kashmir had continued to sacrifice their lives in the pursuit of their legitimate struggle for the right to self -determination.
“Today, Pakistan’s government confirms its commitment to the solution of the Kashmir issue and the right to self-determine Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the decisions of the United Nations,” he said. (With input from Radio Pakistan)
