Peshawar:
After the arrival of the Holy Month Ramazan, the locals in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are struggling with the devastating effects of rising inflation, which has affected their ability to make final meetings on a daily basis.
Despite the government claiming to tackle the question, the situation remains serious, with significant raw materials in the market becomes increasingly prohibitive. One of the main reasons behind this uninhibited price increase is the failure of the award -up committee of intervening, leading to skyrocketing prices for just necessities.
Currently in Peshawar, the meat prices range from RS1.200 to RS1.400 per day. Kg, while chicken is sold to a highest height of RS506 per Kg. Similarly, milk prices have also been affected by food inflation with prices per year. Liters ranging from RS230 to RS240, which marks a significant increase from the prices observed in previous years.
Shakil Khan, a local from Peshawar, shared his two cents on the serious inflation form under Ramazan, which in his opinion had become an annual trend in the last few years.
“Hoards and profits take advantage of this holy month and rake billions at the expense of the public.
Furthermore, district management officials are either busy with social media platforms such as Tiktok or carrying out superficial visits to a few stores showing these actions on Facebook without tackling the core problem, “Khan complained.
“In the past, the administration used to organize ‘Sasta Bazaars’ (cheap markets) under Ramazan where people could buy important goods at reasonable prices, but this year there is no such initiative.
Nasim Bibi, a mother of four children revealed she was a housewife while her husband was a rickshaw driver. Nasim’s household hardly ended up meeting due to artificial inflation where shop owners in her area did not comply with the official price lists, and each supplier charged what they considered to be suitable.
“The rising costs of significant things have made it almost impossible to manage the home and take care of my children. There is no sense of accountability. While the government continues to make demands to provide relief, we have not yet seen any concrete benefits. The provincial government and district administration must review their performance and ensure that the public gets a real relief,” she pulled. “
For many households like NASIM, it is increasingly difficult to manage household expenses for household expenses.
Khalid Farooq, a government employee, also expressed his concerns about the recent wave of inflation.
“Both private and government workers suffer as a large part of their wages are either consumed by utility bills or school fees for their children. The district administration must do more to improve their results and facilitate the financial burden of the public,” Farooq emphasized.
On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner for Peshawar, Sarmad Saleem, defended the district administration’s efforts and said they have regularly visited the markets and taken steps towards those found that violate the official award lists.
“Hundreds of shop owners have already been fined for over -charging. We urge the public to cooperate with the administration and report any events
price increases or violations. We will take appropriate steps, ”he confirmed.
