Karachi:
A paramilitary rangers official has been booked for allegedly the killing of a police constable published at the Gullhan-e-Mayar police station. FIR was registered at the Site-A police station on the complaint of the victim’s father, Under Inspector Nazir Hussain.
According to Nazir, his 30-year-old son, Waseem Akhtar, served in the Sindh police as a constable. Around 9:30 on Thursday, Waseem left home for service on his motorcycle. Around 1 p.m. 13 Nazir received a phone call informing him that a message circulating in a WhatsApp group claimed his son had been killed. When he tried to call Waseem’s mobile phone, the call was answered by Sho Site-A Imran Afridi, who asked him to hurry to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Nazir was taken to the deathhouse where he identified his son’s body. Nazir said Waseem had gunshot wounds on his right arm and chest.
Nazir said his son was riding his motorcycle on Mangshopir Road, instead, when he was stopped by an armed motorcyclist, who reportedly opened fire without provocation, beating Waseem in the chest and arm. Waseem turned back fire in self -defense and is believed to have injured the assailant in the leg.
Nazir also stated that he later got to know through media reports that the shooter was identified as a paramilitary rangers soldier named Noman. He claimed that novel mortally shot his son for no known reason.
The police registered the FIR in accordance with section 302 (overlooked murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
