While JT Miller is widely known as a hockey star, he recently took a shot against golf.

Miller competed in a 2025 US Open Qualifier on Tuesday and he just missed the cut.

Miller, in his second stint with the New York Rangers, ended the qualifying event in Pennsylvania with a 4-over 76. Miller were four shots away from moving on to an endgame for a shot of being an alternative.

“Today, on the first green, I couldn’t even hold the putter,” he said via NHL.com. “So I talked myself into it that it wouldn’t be that way. But I think the first few swings are just like that.”

Miller bogeyed on the first hole.

While Miller is appreciated, he could swing on golf to “one day”, he does not seem to be interested in making a permanent career switch.

“I had an opportunity to play for one day,” Miller said. “I know who I play against out there. I’m a competitive guy, so I just kept expectations realistic. I’m happy with myself.”

Rangers did not qualify for playoffs in 2025.
