- The first screens in the game from Rare’s Everwild have been shown online
- The screens show the protagonist of the game, setting and UI just before the game was canceled
- Everwild were canceled after 10 years of development this summer
The first screens of Rare’s Canceled Action-Adventure Games Everwild Have been shown online, giving us a glimpse of the game’s progress before it was scrapped by Xbox.
The study behind Sea of Thiever revealed Everwild In 2019, but the development of the game began in 2014. Expected to be a third person, fantasy adventure playing, was the project under development for almost 10 years before it was canceled by Xbox in June in the middle of a number of redundancies and other game cancellations.
Now, a year after the project was shrinking, the first screens in the game have given an idea of what the game might have looked like if Rare had been able to implement the development.
In these pictures we can see a silver-haired character, presumably the same character that was displayed in the game’s few teaser trailers. They can be seen standing in a forest environment and exploring what seems to be ruins, with an art style not so different from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

There are also stock screen photos showing a “favorite” panel and a list of objects including “figures” that look like similar Breath of the Wild ‘S Korok, “Tools”, “Mosaics”, “Seeds” and “Plants”.
The Figals tab suggest a collection function that would have required the player to gather the small creatures for an unknown purpose and the mosaics could suggest the same thing.
With the mention of tools, seeds and plants, it is possible that Everwild could have shown life simulation or survival pill elements that were speculated back in 2023.
A setting menu also shows a number of graphics settings with multiple presets to choose from as well as a “performance and visual option.”
When Everwild was canceled, Xbox also announced that the initiative and the study’s work on Perfectly dark would be shut down as well as an unannounced game from The Oldest rolls Online Develops Zenimax.
At the time, Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, said in an E email to Xbox staff that the job cuts “reflects a broader effort to adjust priorities and focus resources to create our teams for greater success in a landscape in changing industry.”
Not a month later, Xbox also canceled Avalanche Studios’ smuggler.
