Karachi:
SINDHS Department of Terrorism (CTD) and federal intelligence agencies on Saturday dismantled a network of the Indian Intelligence Agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), which is reportedly involved in the murder of social activist Abdul Rehman in Badin.
Further IG CTD Azaad Khan with you Ghulam Azfar Mahesar and SSP Irfan Ali Bahadur briefed journalists about the case. Six suspects have been arrested and confessed to planning terrorist sites in Karachi, CTD officials said at a press conference at the central police office.
According to officials, Abdul Rehman, 45, was known locally for welfare work, shot in death in the Badin District’s Matli Police Station Jurisdiction in May. The assailants fled after the attack. Investigators said CCTV recordings and witnesses identified three suspects. Two were arrested and murder weapons and used motorcycle were recovered.
CTD declared that Raw had set up a safe house in Karachi and that the action was masterminded by an agent named Sanjay Sanjeev Kumar, alias Fauji, based in a golf state. He allegedly recruited Salman and Arsalan from Sheikhupura, who then formed a gang of Muhammad Umair, Sajjad, Obaid and Shakeel, where Umair led the operation.
Officials said RAW provided significant funding for the attack with money transfers traced through banks and other channels. A separate case was registered in accordance with the terrorist financing legislation.
Six suspects – Umair Asghar, Sajjad, Obaid, Shakeel, Arsalan and Talha Umair – were arrested and weapons, a motorcycle and cell phones were seized. Authorities said the efforts continued to arrest other accomplices and facilitators.
