Rawal Dam Spillways closed after printing

Islamabad:

The district administration opened the emissions of Rawal Dam on Sunday after continuous rain raised the reservoir’s water level to 1,748 feet.

According to a spokesman for ICT administration, this was only four meters below the dam’s maximum storage capacity of 1,752 feet, which caused the need to release water to prevent overflow risks.

Officials confirmed that the water level in the dam in the dam fell to 1,746 feet after discharging water for approx. six and a half hours.

Waste roads were then closed as the situation stabilized.

The decision to open Spillways was made in coordination with various departments, including District Administration, Rescue 1122 and WASA.

These teams were deployed in key spaces, including bridges, streams and vulnerable points downstream, to control the flow of released water and secure public security. The Nilore AC monitored the entire water release process and monitored operations at the dam and monitored the safety measures on the ground.

Magistrates, Rescue 1122 teams, ambulances and the union council staff remained stationed on various bridges and near the shore of streams throughout the water discharge period.
