- Razer has revealed a new line of Blackshark V3 Pro -Headset
- There are dedicated versions to PC, PlayStation and Xbox
- It’s part of the brand’s wider push into the console space
Gaming Hardware Brand Razer has revealed the new Razer Blackshark V3 Pro Line with dedicated options for PC, PlayStation and Xbox Gamers.
A successor of the already excellent Razer Blackshark V2 Pro, a tremendously popular headset that we awarded four and a half of five stars in our review, Razer Blackshark V3 Pro Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) introduces for the first time in a Blacksham Headset.
It has four microphones to detect and help filter background noise, plus comfortable memory foam ear cups to provide an ideal fit.
It is also the first Razer headset to benefit from the brand’s new gene-2 hyperpeed wireless technology, reducing the sound delay as low as an alleged 10 milliseconds. According to Razer, it expresses it well in front of the competition and makes it an ideal choice for professional players.
In addition to a slightly revised overall design, there have been significant changes under the hood. The headset now has gene-2 triforce 50 mm drivers with bio-cellulose membranes, completely redesigned for more precise sound and spatial accuracy.
The microphone has also been upgraded with a huge 48 kHz test speed that puts it in competition with some of the best microphones for streaming right now.
The Razer Blackshark V3 Pro is launched in three variants, each tailored to its different platforms. The PC version supports Thx spatial sound, while the PlayStation variant is fully compatible with Tempest 3D sound. The Xbox settings are then designed with Windows Sonic Spatial Sound in mind.
All three cost $ 249.99 / £ 249.99 each and come in either black or white color paths. While the Xbox and PC versions are available now, the PlayStation variant is hitting the shelves at a later date.
They release along with the more affordable Razer Blackshark V3 and Entry-Level Razer Blackshark V3 x HyperSpeed. Both of these models are also available in different PC, PlayStation and Xbox flavor.
Razer all goes on the console space
The launch of these new headsets represents something of a shift for the traditionally highly PC-focused hardware brand, which is now aiming to become an important player in the console room.
“So I think in the past we had really worked as very separate units in terms of PC and console,” explains Razer Senior Product Evangelist Paige Sander.
“We took a step back and realized that since we have so much credibility and innovation in the PC room, why not take some of these iconic things, like Blackshark V2 Pro or as our mouse click and bring them to our console products?”
Ultimately, “it’s all about bringing these innovations to console players to get the same level of performance and eSports-focused features,” though Sander admits there are some special considerations when designing a console product.
“The most important thing is to make sure it is really optimized for the platform to which it is built. Therefore, we are a leading setting specifically on the platforms to make sure the sound is really ringing in,” she says. “Also things like 3.5mm jack. We know that many console players like to connect headsets directly into their controllers so we made sure this feature was present.”
Razer is also considering careful feedback from Pro Players, a formula that has proven to be successful for its PC products.
“We also worked specifically with professionals in the ‘Snip3down’ console room on Xbox, ‘Shotzzy’ on PlayStation,” Sander reveals.
“This is their favorite platforms when they play, and so we made sure to work directly with them about the development of their FPS profiles, on some of the design elements such as the subtle Xbox and PlayStation that you want to look at our headset.”
According to the market survey company Circana, Razer Blackshark V2 Pro is currently the most popular PC game headset in the United States.
Does Razer find similar success in the console market? Only time will show, but I definitely look forward to taking these new models for a spin.
