The move not only marks a record bracket, but also the first time Canadian police authorities have run a cryptocurrency -trading platform, RCMP said in a press release.
According to the authority’s eastern regional department, the seizure of a year -long probe of money washing of investigation team followed (Mlit). The case began in June 2024, after a tip from Europol entered, which marked the platform’s alleged non -compliance with Canadian law.
Investigators decided that Tradeogre had failed to register in the financial transactions and reports Analysis Center in Canada (Fintrac) As a money -service business and neglected to verify the identity of its clients, the authorities claim.
RCMP claims that most of the funds passing through tradeogre originated from illegal sources. By offering anonymous account creation, the platform delivered a slight entry port for organized crime groups trying to hide the origin of their money, they claim.
“The transaction data obtained from the platform will be analyzed and fees can follow. The study is in progress,” RCMP wrote in their press release.
