Islamabad:

Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday arrived on a two-day state visit to hold bilateral conversations with the Pakistani leadership.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Minister of Information and Issuement Attaullah Tarar received Iranian president and his delegation at the Nur Khan airflow.

Dr. Pezeshkian is accompanied by a high -level delegation, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, senior ministers and other senior officials.

Dr. Pezeshkian will meet President Asif Ali Zardari and also gives lectures at the delegation level with the Pakistani Prime Minister and his cabinet ministers.

A 21-canon Honor was awarded in honor of President Dr. Pezeshkian upon his arrival, and two children who were dressed in traditional attire presented bouquets to him.

The Foreign Office said in a statement, “This marks Dr. Pezeshkian’s first official visit to Pakistan as President of Iran.”

It is remembered that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif last visited Iran on May 26, 2025.

The visit is expected to further strengthen the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran.

After his arrival in Lahore earlier, Dr. Pezeshkian a warm welcome by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif. His visit was marked by the high -level meeting and a visit to the Mausoleum of Allama Iqbal.

Defense Ministers

The Honorable Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic Iran Brig General Aziz Nasir-Zadeh held a bilateral meeting with the Honorable Minister of Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad.

During the meeting, both sides discussed issues of mutual interest, including regional security, terrorist efforts and opportunities to improve defense cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

Ministers confirmed their obligation to strengthen bilateral ties and promote peace and stability in the region.

The Minister of Defense for Pakistan expressed the appreciation of Iran’s continued commitment and emphasized the importance of defense diplomacy in tackling common security challenges.

The Iranian Defense Minister thanked Pakistan’s government for the warm welcome and repeated Iran’s desire to build stronger defense ties based on mutual respect, shared values and trust.

The meeting ended on a positive note in which both leaders expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan-Iran defense relationships and promised to continue working together on prosperity and security in the region.
