- Two 2014 -sticks and a 2016 model is no longer supported
- Newer models are not currently reduced
- 4K MAX would be our choice of replacement
A few weeks ago, we reported that Netflix would stop supporting some older brand -tv units from June 2025 -and it comes into effect today, June 3rd.
Netflix has not gone into detail about why it ends support for the devices, but the usual explanations are that they are too old to handle the latest security updates, as well as more modern audio and video formats streaming services that Netflix prefers: The affected four TV devices are from 2014 and 2016, which is an eternity in tech years.
These particular brand -tv -sticks have not been updated this year so it has always been a case of when They would go outdated rather than if they would do it.
If you get another Amazon device to replace yours and don’t mind doing without Netflix for a while, I would recommend hanging in a while: Amazon discounts its brand -tv units all the time, but it doesn’t do it today. I will be very surprised if it does not reduce at least one model in time for Father’s Day.
Which four TVs have Netflix stopped supporting?
From June 3, 2025, the first generation versions of the following models will no longer be Netflix-Compatible:
- Four TV (2014)
- Four TV Stick (2014)
- Four TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote (2016)
And to be fair, Netflix has supported these devices for a very long time.
If you are looking for a new four TV stick, the model I would recommend is four TV Stick 4K Max. The Non-Max version has an official price of $ 49.99 / £ 59.99 / AU $ 79, while Max is $ 59.99 / £ 69.99 / AU $ 119, and for not much more money gives you more stock, a faster processor and better Wi-Fi connection too.
Max has been reduced several times this year so far, with the US price at $ 39.99 and took it below £ 50 in the UK. So if you don’t mind keeping your Netflix to watch for a while, it’s probably worth waiting for the next Amazon Four TV -Stick -Agreement to show up.
