Karachi:
Pakistan launches a remote satellite on July 31, 2025 from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC), announced spokesman for Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) on Sunday.
This launch marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s space program that improves its earth observation features, the spokesman added. The satellite will support a wide range of national applications, including precision farming to increase the crops.
It will also monitor infrastructure development and urban expansion and enable regional planning. It will also strengthen disaster control efforts by providing early warnings for flooding, landslides and earthquakes, while glaciers and deforestation of Gletster.
The satellite will help map transport networks and identify Geohazards and thereby support national development initiatives such as China -Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
Its data collection functions across different environmental conditions make it an important asset for environmental monitoring and resource management.
This launch, along with the integration of existing remote measurement satellites-PRSS-1 (launched in July 2018) and EO-1 (launched in January 2025) forces Pakistan’s space-based infrastructure further.
The initiative is in line with the National Space Policy and Suparco Vision 2047 with the aim of placing the country at the forefront of space technology and innovation, the spokesman said.
